How are things running? Any thoughts on how much you'll be able to extend the season?

well, still growing, only things still going are my greens and tomatoes. Nights are getting down around 7 degrees celcius.

dome is holding snow load with no problem, how to start planting in March.

dome is planted for another year, put a new center bed in and moved my avocado tree out there to see how it does.

Hi Matthew, I was curious if you custom ordered your design/measurements from the geo-dome website or if not, which design specifically you used. I have looked at their plans/kits and do not see your exact model there unless i am mistaken. I must admit i've been scanning many websites for many years looking for dome greenhouse options, and yours is hands down one of the most practical yet beautiful ones in application and execution. Ps, tree came down yesterday and almost hit it,  got lucky!

Thanks for getting back so fast Matthew. Did you make any modifications as far as the top most sections are concerned? They had a visual appeal that made me wonder if you made adjustments or compensations. Just curious, thanks. Nice luck ducking the falling branch/tree.

I added extra triangles inside the top pentagon to help manage snow load, I am in New Brunswick Canada and we get lots so didn't want the plastic to sag

I'm in upstate New York so snow is definitely an issue and concern. Size wise I was thinking about the same thing you've got there. Seems like a good way to maximize space versus costs of materials. Speaking of which, roughly what were the costs you experienced in this project if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again.

Matthew, Bigelow Brook Farm has a geodesic greenhouse, and they built in a rocket mass heater to the floor to keep it warmer in the winter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7ynBppcvKM

You might be able to add a RMH and fire it in the evening, and have ducting make a loop around your center bed before venting out. That would provide a lot of warmth to get tender plants through those colder nights.

Heartwater Farm in Utah has a couple geodesic greenhouses and they use the mineral oil pistons on their vented pieces, and said it worked great once you calibrate it to open at the right temperature. 2-3 up top, and 1-2 at the bottom to create the chimney draft.
