Found a old water wheel at the local yard, can it be used again?  RSS feed

Down at my local yard theres an old water wheel, took some video of it.
Would it be possible to get this up and generating electricity? I do have access to a river although the head isnt that great but theres plenty of volume.

That is an awesome bit of kit!

I can't answer your question, but I was wondering if it was originally attached to a chaff cutting machine? I've seen old places in Wales with water-powered chaff cutters but I never had a chance to go and play with them.

Appears to be split babbitt bearings, a little oil in the cups and they'll last another 100 years. Nice find!
