Hi all

With the Idea of community and all the fun stuff we are getting are selves into because of forums like this great one. I cant help but ask myself how I fit in to it all. Im a fine art sculptor with skills in moldmaking and casting.

With that said I can say that Im just hitting the surface in my attempt to became self sufficient. I would like to know what I can do in this community to bring things to a new level. We have great resources all around us and I would Like to be one of them.

(I would like to expand on this more but will be late to work)

First of all Jason - welcome to Permies! You ask a great question. Hopefully you will get some interesting answers.

If you could post pictures of some of your molds and casts - that would be fantastic.

Hey is a mold and the casting that I got out of it. I would say that this is a complicated process that can be done with plaster, an earth friendly material compared to silicon. I have s love hate relationship with this work. I hope I can fine something that will allow me to do what I like but not effect are planet.

I have begun casting large pieces again in metal. It came about from my breaking a gear on my metal lathe and the probability of finding a replacement gear being nill.
Mold making and kiln work are something I have done for a long time with jewelry sized pieces my casting of larger pieces I haven't done since college but enjoyed it.
With a forge, small foundry and lathe/mill there are very few things that one couldn't make.
