Hello Permies.com!
We are a young couple with passion in our hearts and energy in our bodies looking for work that matters. The ideal situation for us would be working on or creating/running a small permaculture or organic farm (preferably vegetables/fruits and eggs with some specialty crops like mushrooms, spirulina, garlic, micro livestock, etc.) in exchange for housing, resources and/or a salary. Between us is over a decade of gardening experience. We are looking to help someone achieve their vision of a sustainable agro-ecosystem. CURRENTLY LOCATED IN NYC, so preference to Hudson Valley Locations but WE ARE WILLING TO RELOCATE as long as there is a town a drive away. We are looking to make arrangements by Spring 2016.

About us...
My name is Andrew, I am a Liberal Arts Major at BMCC, an avid urban farmer and a digital artist. I have previously developed succesful urban farms to bring the local food production movement to my community. I have worked on conventional homesteads as well, where my main focus was maintaining a wide variety of crops and teaching children about the native flora and fauna, the seasonal and reproductive cycle of plants and insects, pest identification, livestock care and the connectivity of species in nature. I am a fastidious researcher and planner and enjoy creating financial plans, thinking of whole systems integration and creating "dream farms" where no waste is created and production components complement each other. I have also had less horticulturally oriented jobs such as babysitting, illustration, bartending and cash handling; jobs that requiring tactful interaction, organization, creativity and focus.

Her name is Sarah, She is a music teacher, seamstress, gardener and all around sweetheart who will either work on the farm or get a job in town.

Let me know if there is a project we can be a part of, we wish to set down roots and make good with the land.

Hey Permies,
I have met a lot of great people from this site and am still looking for a spot to land long term. I think I should specify specifically what we are looking for to avoid confusion.
We are actively trying to avoid the boss/worker hierarchy and are really looking for folks who want to collaborate and share the workload, allowing our interests to guide what we work on.
We are specifically interested in low impact forest farming, growing medicinals, fermentation, perennial food forests, bioremediation via mycelia networks and learning ways to establish systems that require very little inputs.
The ideal situation for us would be a work/trade starting from a blank slate, working with landowners who either don't have the time to make their permaculture dreams a reality or a small community of like minded folks who are wanting to create something from the ground up and need people to cover gaps in their skill sets. People, like the rest of the natural world, can accomplish great things when allowed to operate in a fashion/pace that is native to them.
The reason for this is so we can take our time in getting to know the land and sense of place and moving forward in a thoughtful matter so that systems established in the farm's beginnings support later additions.
If the position is an established farm or paid position, obviously the pace of our work shifts more towards the "market hustle" and we are open to a "employee" relationship if it allows us to be sustained. I do freelance graphic design as a profession and Sarah is a trained music and vocal teacher, just thought I would throw that out there for people wondering how we are able to support ourselves.

Would you consider Northern Maine ? I have an acre or two that you can work on in exchange for helping me. Work the acreage properly and in short order you could be making money. This is an excellent area to live. Almost all the people are just plain good. There are jobs available as well. We could build you a Cabin on skids. When you put together about $ 3000.00, I know of many in the area that will finance you. Especially if they can see the work you have already completed. Load the cabin on a truck then move to your own place. You will also have the outbuildings you will need to be up and in operation. Things you will need like an outhouse, woodshed on skids, smoker on skids, etc.. I think you get the idea. Or in exchange for helping me, I'll give you a no cost lease on 5 acres.

Hey there! Are y'all still looking for something? We are seeking a three month intern (possibly longer even) for our organic garden. I'm at the Ecovillage Training Center which is in an intentional community called The Farm. Check out our website www.thefarm.org and send me an email at ecohostel@icloud.com if you'd like to talk more

Well folks, you  are local to us. Feel free to drop me a line, I sent you an email. photonicgirl@hotmail.com

Might be a good fit. Only way is to check each other out. Fortunately you live close enough to come visit which is how we generally prefer to start our community experience with newcomers.
