please test the new freebie pages

We are just about to move the daily-ish email to a new system. This means that we had to modify the pages that deliver our freebies. To make sure that we did not break anything while making the modifications, can people test the following pages:

The updated test cases are:

1. Enter an email address registered for the daily-ish email -> shows the download page
1a. Try to navigate to the previous page using the back arrow -> stay on the download page
1b. Try to navigate to the initial page (e.g.: willie-smits.php) -> redirects to the download page
1c. Clear richsoil cookies, and navigate to the initial page -> get to the initial page where an email address is required.
1d. Try to navigate to the download page (http://richsoil.com/download.php) without inputting an email address -> redirected to the initial page
1e. Clear cookies, but do not reload the page, and try to navigate to the download page -> the message "This is not the page you are looking for" is shown.
2. Enter an email address that is not registered at permies or to the daily-ish email -> redirected to a page showing a message saying that the subscription is initiated, an email is sent to the email address (do not complete the registration process yet)
2a. Try to navigate to the previous page using the back arrow -> asks if you want to resubmit the form (don't)
2b. Enter the address for the inital page (or follow a link to it) -> it is loaded normally.
2c. Enter an email address that is already registered -> shows the download page
2d. Clear cookies, go to the initial page and enter the non-registered email address again -> stay on the initial page and shows a message saying that the registration process must be completed.
2e. Complete the registration process and enter the email address again -> shows the download page
3. Try downloading the files -> should download them on your computer.
4. Try to input an invalid email address (i.e. no @, no domain name) -> shows a message saying that the email address is invalid.

For the next test, you will need to change the email preferences so that the "permaculture stuff" option is not checked in. You can modify the email preferences by pasting this link (https://permies.com/forums/email/preference?email=) in your browser and adding your email address at the end. Note that you need to be logged in at permies to fiddle with the settings.

5. In a browser where you are logged in permies, enter an email address that is registered at permies, but not for the daily-ish email ("permaculture stuff" option) -> shows a page to change your email preferences (don't change them yet).
5a. In a different browser (or an incognito window) where you are not logged in permies, enter an email address that is registered at permies, but not for the daily-ish email -> shows a page telling you to login.
5b. Follow the instruction on that page, refresh -> shows the "Email Subscription Preference" (close that window after you get to this point)
5c. In the first browser window, change the email preferences so that the "permaculture stuff" option is selected, then save the preferences -> redirects you to the download page automatically


Please report if the pages worked as expected or any unexpected behavior in this thread. Please specify what browser you used.

I believe i am able to create a failure for 1a in safari:

I ran a test in Chrome version 47.0.2526.106 m (latest versionas of post) and all came up as expected.

i am replying to let you know I am not much help with this. I count myself fortunate that I can find my email & navigate on this forums. I am using Chrome and the links worked like they're supposed to but for the rest...?

when you say the "links work" do you mean you got the downloads all fine?

I had to go back & check but ,yes, I did.

Well, on second look -- all the downloads seem to be the Annex 6" system, even though I have clicked on different links. See - I don't think I'm the one to ask.

I have begun running the tests requested, but it will take a little time. What is the deadline?

The YouTube video link is broken on the Willie Smits page. The Wood Burning Stoves 2.0 4-DVD Set picture is broken on all of the links. This is on Firefox 43 as well as Chrome 47.0.2526.106 (64-bit) running Linux if that makes a difference.

Also, the Rocket Mass Heater podcast gob links to the Rocket Mass Heater Annex6 PDF. Seems like some simple fixes to get everything running smoothly.

Everything worked as expected (perfectly) for me using Firefox 43.0.3 and Windows 7. I then went and changed my email preferences so that I was no longer subscribed to permaculture emails and everything worked fine too...from your links above on this page, it didn't ask for my email addy like it did (only) the first time I went to a candy link, it just always recognized me immediately (subscribed or unsubscribed to the dailyish email) and took me straight to the download links. I am very low tech so I am not sure if that was what you were asking! I hope it helps.

Fixed the youtube video (the guy who uploaded it must've taken it down) and fixed the picture..
