best books/resources for getting started with ducks and/or geese

looking for books and other resources for getting started with ducks and/or geese. ones with detailed info. thanks!

Books abound out there, but honestly there are better resources on here. With a book you get the ideas of a single writer or two, but this community is filled with many who have ducks, geese and chickens. I don't have geese, but do have ducks and chickens and have the Taj Ma Hal of chicken coops. That might be a little hyperbole, but you get the idea. Chickens, ducks (and I assume geese) are really easy keepers.

If you have any questions, fire away. there is a ton of experience, methods of raising them, styles of chicken coops, and whatnot to choose from. I am more traditional than some, but no one is really wrong.

I certainly find these forums one the best resources I've ever seen for answering questions. I still purchase books, especially on newer subjects. Sometimes when I'm starting out, I need help just to find the questions.

I don't know about geese, but we do have ducks. I've found Dave Holderread's Guide to Raising Ducks really helpful.

Boondockers Farm also has a really helpful overview on raising ducklings to ducks: http://boondockers.sharepoint.com/Pages/Raisingducklings.aspx. I'd read this first, then move on to Holderread's book.

I also end up using http://www.majesticwaterfowl.org/ a lot. Their site is often a little difficult to navigate, but they have a lot of good information, especially on diagnosing problems/illness/diseases with ducks (and geese, too, I believe).

And, of course, I use http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/ a lot. One thread I refer to a lot on there is The ULTIMATE list of DUCK Treats and Supplements.... This is really useful for knowing what I can feed, as well as should not feed, my ducks.

I find myself at Metzer Farm's site, too. They have some good information on how much each breed of duck lays, how much light to supplement (if you want to go that route), and how much feed to give your ducks.
