I found mate because I am a loose leaf tea fan. After my aunt bought me an entire bag of loose tea, I fell in love. I was never a fan of coffee, and falling for tea made it even worse. I forget how I found mate initially, but i was hooked when I read how the ceremony was similar to a
Native American peace pipe ceremony. Where the indians would sit in a circle and smoke the peace pipe, people in a Yerba Mate ceremony congregate in a circle to enjoy the Mate and the company of others. Sure, I realize that this tea is healthy for many things. It helps level out my attention deficit among many other things. I drink it, because it makes me feel good. This tea makes me high. I'll admit it. Once I sat down and steeped 3 or 4 glasses of hot tea in a row, I was lit. This tea made me jolly, I felt great, and it's got like 10 times more health benefits than green tea.
