Tech crew: please ignore this post if the problems have previously been identified and are being worked on...

Some strange intermittent aberration with the text margining…
https://preparednessmama.com/propagate-herbs-from-cuttings/
(only affecting the occasional post — but annoying)

and some bizarre failure to separate the two last (bottom) posts…
https://permies.com/t/41411/Electric-Pole-review#616800

I'm not at all certain how many recent threads are being affected in these ways.  If very few, then maybe the issues don't matter much.

First link isn't to permies.  You sure it's the right one?

Second link looks OK on my computer.  Can you do a screen shot and tell us what operating system you are using?

Hi Burra.  Thanks for having a look, but at this moment I feel pretty stupid... I don't know what that first URL should have been (somehow I'd tried to copy-and-paste it into my message, but the wrong "copy" got pasted!)

Plus, I'd dumped my "History" for the day, so couldn't retrace my steps.  But the last thread I remember exploring was this one:
https://permies.com/t/72637/Perceptions-Reality-thought-people-cooking
Trouble is, I just had another look at it, and it seems its margins are okay. !!

So if I come across a thread like the one in question (with loused-up margins) I'll revive that part of what I was talking about in my original post on this thread.

I've had that issue but it was on the "Old View" so I switched to the new view which I really don't like.

When you say "the new view which I really don't like" I've gotta say I feel the same.  Yes, I do use the old view, which is maybe less stylish and "up to date" looking.  But I like it because, with the the forum indexes, the old view is simpler, more compact, easier to scan through for me.

The old view is gradually breaking down - there are good reasons for the update even if they aren't apparent to the end user.

I'd strongly recommend grasping the nettle and switching to the new before it gets turned off completely.

Burra, I appreciate the attention you're giving to this discussion.  I'm sure your advice is good advice.

But... is there any way, within the capabilities of the new programming, to address the points I brought up?  That in the forum indexes, the old view is simpler & more compact, hence easier to scan through to find what one is looking for or interested in.

I admit, this aversion of mine may be a minority feeling here at Permies.com... or it could be a lot of people are keeping mum and not giving feedback about something they don't particularly like.  But I'm wondering if the drawbacks I mentioned could be addressed.

I haven't explored all the options fully, but it sounds like you've only tried the default view. There's a "change view" button and menu to allow you to select from a few pre-programmed views.

Or if you go into your profile and open up the site personalisation settings, you can basically program your own dashboard if you wish.

Squanch that. And squanch this tiny ad:
