wow, people are reading my posts??? this is a good thing right?

anyways, when you try this yourselves, you will find your east-west lines are very similar even a few minutes from solar noon....I tell people 10am and 2pm and wait to see if they ask about time zones....did you know at certain times of the year at the equator, there are no shadows at noon?

you will also find that you don't have to pick two times before and after solar noon...just wait 20 minutes between your second and third stick  -try it, you'll see the east-west line accuracy is only slightly off...but can you notice the difference between??? have you experimented with this method???  Experimentation is where it's at, not on my silly thread :]

...and finally, if you really want an absolutely perfect east to west line,  on the morning of the winter solstice, upon sunrise, place your second stick. Then just before sunset place your third stick. With this East - West line, no one can argue about when solar noon really is nor what time zone they are in!

hmmmm....I wonder what quality of information my supporters are getting???  how about you Paul? how about you Hilary?  ...is it worth a cup of tea or coffee?

BRK Day 54

We had a good day yesterday! We did a little junk pole fence, some prep work so Rex can do hugels in front of Alterton Abbey, and we examined the small hugel kulture beds at Alterton Abbey  -Fred found morrells!, strawberries are growing leaves, onions are walking, and garlic is growing!

Yes!!! Kerry Rodgers is now one of my material supporters!  He'll be getting the weekend non-public video links with design and work content from On Narrow Pond just as William and Greg have been  -Thank you Kerry, such donations provide an extra morale bump when a person becomes a little weary in addition to much needed items!

We did some hugel bed building and junk pole fence building at Alterton Abbey then returned to base camp to do some clean up and repairs.

Remember those kiwi cuttings???  Well, they were planted!  So here begins a series of short videos showing this process by a professional!

Friday brought two new Boots!  Welcome Clayton, Niki and her son Jackson!

More mulching on Apricot Alley and planting on Fred's Deep Roots plot, and then some base camp clean up.

Our new crew did junk pole harvesting together for the first time followed by the FPH garden tour, planting, and Rocket Stove Water Heater plumbing work.

We started putting on the lower and upper horizontals yesterday and then we planted on Fred's Deep Roots plot  -wow! he is going to have a lot of food if even half of the seeds grow!  ...that's the reward he gets for all his hard work with Boots and many other things  (just as Josiah and Jennifer are banking fish for all their hard work by taking care of so many Boot logistics)!

I invited all four of the new boots to do a design brainstorming meeting at 7pm Mon-Thurs night  -one of them is about to release his first designed item!
