BRK Day 48

Assembling the Junk Pole Fence (JPF) was the main task yesterday. Other tasks included Josiah fixing the pond with REX, black locust starter buckets, library organization, and maple tree starters planted.

BRK Day 49

Nice sunny day yesterday! Four of us harvested junk pole fence yesterday and in the afternoon; Rex got a workout, Apricot Alley got more mulch, and a couple of glass cloches were made from 1 gallon apple juice jugs.

BRK Day 50

uuuhhhh....late night after a couple of card games and a two hour later rough design layout (design on what???  it's a secret for later)....

....over slept a bit....now, let see.... oh, the pictures I took yesterday suggests that we cleaned the shop, or atleast the first 25 feet and fitted junk pole into the Alterton Abbey Junk Pole fence  BUT more importantly, Paul bought us all huckleberry pie (we reluctantly saved him a piece:)) ...a second team staid at base camp and I heard a rumor some vent pipe was sawed, a window quilt is nearing completion, vetch was planted, and more glass cloches were made.

BRK Day 51

Had a little fun yesterday besides junk pole fencing....
....a tall live tree fell over Fred's Deep Roots lot road, so we debarked it, cut it to size, and propped it off the ground. Then we planted Fred's Deep Roots plot with many different types of plants...I planted grapes from his Mom's vineyard.

Oh yeah, I began the game cameras' maintainer yesterday too!

...finally, I had a little time to design  -what? no, only my supporters get to see my design process  -I'll post how to support my efforts here at Wheaton Labs late tomorrow!

BRK Day 52

Yesterday I did a little nest labor before heading out to Upper Wheaton Labs. I've named my acre in upper Wheaton Labs: "On Narrow Pond"  I send my supporters pictures and videos of what I am doing there -thank you William Shlegel and Greg Martin!

BRK Day 53

Here's a four stick method to find solar south. Use this to find south south instead of compass magnetic south if you want to use passive solar (or active PVC solar for that matter).

You can see from the pictures, the person who thought their pole building was oriented south was off about 13 to 15 degrees  -a significant error for both active and passive solar! Magnetic south changes over time; solar south is always solar south!

I think there is a BB for finding solar south.

Have you accounted for the hour shift (Daylight Savings Time)?

That's a clever thing, didn't realise how different solar south was to magnetic south. I understand the two hours before, then two hours after noon measurements, but would it need to be solar noon, rather than 12 on the clock?
