Rather new to Permies, and perhaps I missed it or just can't find it, but is there a way to set preferences so when I click on a topic it automatically goes to the Most Recent Post so I don't have to scroll down each time? Thanks.

That's one of the pie perks...look under 'pie only preferences'

...and it looks like you have pie

edit...
Jim, I forgot to say the preferences are in your profile

Thanks, Judith. I was looking in the regular preferences. Yes, I have pie. I bought it earlier this week so I could start adding phrases to my Bookmarks and Watches. Got that tip from another helpful post you made!

OK, so I checked these three boxes in PIE preferences:

Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis
Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past
Navigate to the last post you have viewed

But I still wind up on the first post, first page...even of multi-page post pages where I've read every post.

From the main Forum page, if you see numbers under the thread ... click the last number and it will take you to the last page of the thread.

I know that. What I am trying to do is click on a topic and avoid having to click the last page and then scroll all the way down. Most forums I am a member of have a preference that once you read a topic, the next time you click on that topic, it returns you to where you left off or the latest post, not to the beginning of the topic each time. Just wondering if this forum software has this feature.

How about clearing browser history?

With the pie option checked, when I click on the topic title it takes me to the first new post after I left off reading...there is a green line separating them...it goes there no matter how many pages there are...UNLESS, I've read them all and then it takes me to the first page rather than the last post even though I might want to go to the last post.  In that case I just need to remember to click on the tiny icon next to the name of the last person who has posted in the thread (before you open the thread).  confusing?

I have 'navigate to the last post you have viewed' checked also and that's where we might expect to go in any topic, every time, even if it's the last post in the thread?...rather than back to the beginning?  Seems like back to the beginning would only happen if one had not viewed the topic at all?

a bug maybe?

So I went to my PIE preference and checked these:

Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis

Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past

Navigate to the last post you have viewed

I am not seeing any change when I click on a post.  It takes me to the first post.

Now that I posted there is a green line above my post.

I closed out the thread, went to the main forum page now I am not seeing any green and it takes me to the first post in the thread,

and that's where it seems like it should 'navigate to last post viewed' .

Have you experimented with other threads?  It seems to work fine for me except for that option...once I've 'seen' all of the posts in a thread I am taken to the beginning when I reopen the thread.

Raven...Was using Edge. Cleared history and still the same. Tried it in Chrome, Firefox and IE...all the same.

Judith...Not confusing...just not working. I also have "navigate to the last post you have viewed" checked in my PIE preferences, but it still takes me to the first page, first post even if I am staying current with a topic and have been reading along as new posts are made.

OK...so when I just made the post above this one, a green line appeared above the post. I went back to the main page, clicked on this topic again, and was taken to the first post, not the last post.

I also just went to a few topics that I had posted in but not visited in the past few days even though I received notifications that there were new posts. When I clicked on the topics I was brought to page 1, post 1. Seems like this option is not functioning.

Before I posted I checked several that I had been to today.  They all went to the first post.

Now it seems to be working as I am going to posts from today.  Also this thread now has the green line above your post though I didn't see a green line on any of the other ones I check.  I had not posted to the other threads so I guess that is why.

Maybe the difference is if we have also clicked on 'watch topic' at the beginning of the thread?

Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis

Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past

Navigate to the last post you have viewed

I know that the first two options work on several that I look at but not sure if it's only the ones that I am also 'watching'.

When I just came back to this topic it brought me in at the first post, but as I scrolled down, there was a green line above Anne's post (3 posts up)...which is where I left off last time. Maybe that's what the feature is and not that you "come in" at that point. If nothing worse, my index finger will get a good workout scrolling on each topic.

It comes in at the green line for me...most of the time.  Now I'm feeling unsure of anything.....

I think with all three options clicked we are supposed to be able to open a topic and go automatically to the last post seen...somewhere round about the 'green line'.  I do notice that it doesn't always do that though.

Maybe one of the techs will have time to peek at this thread and sort it out.

Wow! That time it brought me in right at your post Judith, just below the green line. First time that has happened. Sounds like there is some kind of bug going on.

Do you also have email notifications set?  I wonder if that makes a difference?

I'm thinking bug also....
