How do you put up a fence post if you cannot dig into the ground?  Build a rock Jack to hold up the post!  All wood is sitting on rocks to prevent decay.  Thanks Opalynn fort the great instruction

The group made a bunch of mallets today.  Each person made a simple mallet and a compound mallet.  Great learning.  The shave bench was great for using a draw knife. Thanks Mike.

Over on track 1 we started some 3 log benches this morning and worked with the excavator to elevate our hugel game.  It was too hot for pics of the hugels but here are some 3 log bench pics...

Very hot but pretty day in Missoula on Saturday.  I went in 80% of the shops around Higgins St to see what they had to offer.  

Built a "tool display wall" to show off and protect the more valuable hand tools.  Most of these were donated by Jordan Holland!!!

Monday was unseasonably cool (75F) and partly cloudy.  An absolutely beautiful day.  We spent it by the Dances with Pigs meadow getting Woodland Care BBs knocked out.  The last pic is of my preferred way to peel bark that is slipping well.  Cut a strip down the length of the log, work the bark spud in under the edge, push it in an inch and gently pry open to allow the bark to stretch and lift itself off.  Move down a foot and repeat.  Go the length of the log and then work your way back.  It's basically unrolling the bark off the log like a paper towel roll.  Much easier and rather zen than hacking at it with a big spud (in my opinion)....

Baskets were made from willow tree branches.  They are very sturdy and will have a long and useful life.
