General
Most of the PEP sand badge works in an apartment, except for the outside bits…  So we adjusted the list and added a few more BBs to compensate.

In other words, by completing this badge, you are about 80% of the way to completing the PEP sand badge and have a bit of a dent in the straw badge too!

Sand

Complete the following PEP BBs:
do laundry by hand
wash dishes without a dishwasher
clean a bathroom
clean a kitchen
clean an oily dish without soap
grease hinges
oil wooden kitchen utensils
get whiter whites without chlorine bleach
sweep floor
make rags from old clothes
deep clean the fabric on a couch or chair using natural cleaners
manually clean an oven
set up a rag system
set up a cloth napkin system
make a general purpose natural cleaner t
deep clean the interior of a refrigerator
deep clean the exterior of a refrigerator

Hey there! I'm living aboard a boat, so I've been looking at PEA alternatives for several badges. I'm planning to try my hand at the "clean an oily dish without soap" badge, but I'm stuck on the requirements.

"To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - clean an oily dish (plate or bowl--not a skillet/pan/pot/etc) without soap
     - 95% goes into a compost or animal bucket
     - 4% can be wiped out with a piece of paper that will later be a fire starter
     - last 1% is removed with hot water
     - end result is squeaky clean"

I'm wary to start a vermiculture compost bin on my boat (if anyone's done this, please let me know - I'm worried about leakage into the hull and attracting the interest of various river varmints). Likewise, I don't rely on fire for anything. Are those requirements waived for the PEA version?

This badge is still in the process of being finalized (it's taking longer than I originally predicted, but we are working our way through them one badge at a time). This is something we'll have to consider in that final revision. I imagine having a small bucket of scraps for composting could still work even on a boat, as you could Ruth Stroud them when ashore instead of a full on compost/vermipost method. This badge doesn't actively involve actually doing composting, just separating the food scraps into a container rather than into the trash. The fire paper thing though we'll have to give serious attention to on that final revision. Thank you for your question and when we have this finalized, hopefully there will be a more satisfactory answer.

Thanks! I'll stand by for finalization and practice in the meantime.
