This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Nest.

In this Badge Bit, you will deep clean a couch with water and suction.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
   - must use a nontoxic and natural cleaner
   - steam is ok in conjunction with suction

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following with pictures (or a video < 2 mins long):
   - before, during, and after of deep cleaning a couch
   - show and describe what you cleaned the couch with
   - demonstrate it meets the above stated requirements

This took a lot longer than anticipated.  After renting a red machine with upholstery attachments, lugging it home and up the front stairs, putting it together and filling with water -- the upholstery attachment did not work.  Took it back.  Decided that for a little more than twice the price of renting, I could buy a handheld machine.  It worked surprisingly well once I figured out that it didn't heat the water and I needed to add hot water.  I used just hot water and suction, except giving the dirtier areas a little boost with vinegar/water spray before suction.  Then I set the cleaned cushions out on the back porch for a couple hours for some sun.
