This badge bit (BB) is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in textiles.

In this project, you will make wax cloth or oilcloth and use it to make a lunch bag.

How to Make Authentic Oilcloth

Minimum requirements:
  - make a lunch bag from wax cloth or oilcloth you make
  - use natural fabrics: cotton, linen, or canvas
  - minimum size: 4" x 6" x 9"

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2 min):
  - Write a few words on your method
  - The fabric, oil/wax, and tools you will use for your project
  - Making the wax/oilcloth in progress
  - Sewing the lunchbox
  - Finished lunch bag (with a tape measure or packed lunch)

Clarification: this is NOT a two-fer with transform 1-yard of material into oilcloth.

Decided to try the waxed cloth lunch bag.

Started by creating my waxed fabric from cotton fabric in my stash then sewed up the sides and cut my box corners then sewed those up. I used my pinking shears on the top edge.

It stands up beautifully!

If I were to do this again I would try sewing the bag and then waxing it (fold it like a paper bag and may need to flip it)
While I was sewing it sounded funny - not sure how to explain it. My feed dogs wouldn't move the fabric on their own - I didn't put my walking foot on... I had some trouble with my tension as well.
