I planted a few elderberry bushes last year and they’re starting to flower now! I let the biggest two go and I have a few berries coming on, but I felt this plant could use another year to mature before it really focuses on fruiting.
Flower harvesting time!

I kept it simple, I added some avocado oil to the flowers, heated using the double boiler method for several hours, then strained into its storage container.

I infused a combo of jojoba oil and almond oil with fresh elder flowers. I let it sit in a dark cupboard for several weeks, shaking occasionally. After the pretty orange of the elder flower tincture, I can't say I'm impressed with the finished oil. It has a slight floral fragrance, but not one that I particularly like.
