This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

Perhaps you are getting a bit sick of those rickety plastic saw horses you've been using.  Or you cut halfway through the top of your dad's wooden saw horses one too many times.  Let's build a beefy set of timber frame sawhorses!

Here's one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a pair of timber framed saw horses
  - At least 4x4" timbers, preferably larger
  - Include angle braces or cross braces
  - Mortise, tenon and pegs
  - No metal
  - Joints are tighter than than the thickness of two pennies or .125"

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The lumber you're going to use for this project
  - Midway through the construction process
  - Completed saw horses
  - Show close-ups of joinery

Good heavens! What have you done! Here, try to fix it with this tiny ad:
