A little tidbit of information that is not currently obvious.
First, if you get thread boost for a thread, you will see that the price for DX5 (which is the tiny ads) is:
$0.10 for 1,000 impressions
$50.00 for 1,000,000 impressions
Next, if you set the priority to "filler" the ad won't run very often, but it will run a really long time. And the price is half. So, one million impressions for $25.
So if I run your ad, which ad do you suggest i take down?
I have sold one. And there is no affiliate percentage available. That's why I'm interested in placing the ad. I would want a place along the top, but I don't know which should be replaced. I thought it was randomly generated. I don't know how much you should charge either. I thought your offer a few years back was along the lines of what I am requesting. Are you telling me that all of the smaller square ads are yours? Since we've started this exchange, I have begun to think about what I would do with a 5XD banner worth of space.
I would think that other stuff of yours would sell better with advertising, but I do think your map is fun and cool.
I sold some of those banners on coderanch not long ago for $1 per thousand impressions plus a $100 insertion fee. I am willing to give you a sweet deal - do you have an idea of how many you want?
DX5 is the tiny ad at the bottom. You can get it running with the thread boost button at the bottom of the thread you wish to boost.
What you have provided there is a "banner ad". We are trying to move away from banner ads because:
- most people run ad blocker stuff which blocks those
- and nearly everybody is already trained to ignore those
I like the 150x150 ads better. But people kinda tune those out too.
DX5 and other thread boost stuff is king.
If you let me run your banner with my f-code, I will give you 100,000 impressions and we can see how it does.
I can tell you this: If you want to run a banner at mother earth news, they charge something like $12 per thousand impressions requiring a minimum spend of something like $1500. Nearly all sites are like that. And then half the site will be loaded with ads. And they get half the traffic that permies does. I've been charging $1 per thousand plus a $100 insertion and rarely get any takers. At the same time, when I advertised for my kickstarter, we ran all sorts of ads and dx5 and all other types of ads running during the whole thing brought in almost nothing. The thing that was the big winner was the emails. And I wrote to you about five months ago to try something that might work with emails and other stuff. :)
