Living Woods is a quarterly magazine for everyone who loves woodland, trees and timber. So whether you dream of owning your own woodland, want to learn new and exciting woodland skills and activities or simply want to enjoy the therapy of quiet, green woodworking, Living Woods Magazine will show you the way.
The magazine was founded in 2008 by Nick Gibbs to provide a community journal for those who, like him, love woodlands and the outdoor life. In the following years it flourished and has proved a universally loved hub for woodland folks around the world.

This package includes issues 1 - 55 of Living Woods Magazine (issue 38 is apparently lost to the universe, but if we ever locate it, all who have purchased the package will have instant access). This magazine is a wealth of information, with beautiful photography, inspiring projects, product reviews, and in-depth tutorials.
I give this magazine collection 10 out of 10 acorns! I love how visually appealing it is, and how the tutorials have such great pictures and information, and just the amazing breadth of subjects covered. Every issue I looked at, had something I just had to read, and was glad I had!
There's something in here for everyone--from teaching children woodcrafting skills, reviews of quality tools, inspiration from people's projects and community activities, information about conservation and woodland care, a LOT of amazing and inspiring information for green wood woodworking.
I really want to check out Nick Gibbs' new endeavor Quercus Magazine, which will be coming out later this year and is "for anyone working wood by hand, be it making chairs, furniture, and sloyd, or by greenwoodworking."
If the download file is too big, please tell me. I can break up the issues into smaller, easier-to-download, folders (I'm probably not the only one that has her computer/internet give up downloading if the file is too big).
Thanks, Living Woods, for making these available. There are so many hidden gems in these magazines and each one feels like a labour of love. The tool and equipment reviews are helpful. The sometimes offbeat articles give me lots to think about and projects to try. Having an (almost) full set is a feast for the senses. I look forward to reading them all in quiet moments.
I give the Living Woods Magazines 10 out of 10 Acorns. These magazines are an ideal platform to use as a reference for skills development. For example one of the BBs is carving a spoon. Page 17 of volume 56 introduces the budding spoon carver to an expert who shows what can be done at the top end and she discusses how she sets to to carve her spoons. The next article is Dan Watson getting into the basics of spoon carving.
Simple advice: "To make a spoon all that is required is a small, sharp hand axe, a saw, a straight knife, a hook knife and a pencil."
Overall a great set of magazines to read and learn from.
