I gathered up several wheel barrel loads of leaves, one of manure, unloaded a roll of hay for Bull, found an egg, mowed some leaves for mulch, put in some turnip seedlings, potted up some collards, mulched the turnip, peas and lima beans-after watering deeply, had a devil of a time with the Evil Thorn Bush of Death, threw a bowl of
coffee grounds at a leaf pile, added some 'other material' to a special heap which will not be used for food crops, scattered some hickory nuts across the road, gathered up a bunch of branches, heap most of them, added some to a soon-to-be-hugelkulture bed, counted all the radishes (there are 3) and potatoes (now 17), thought about using acorns as a fuel, moved a giant box out of the garage to the back field-Bull likes to play with them(?), cleaned out the front seat of the big truck, noticed pine cones on the ground from that big pine tree out front, realized I have no plans for using pine cones, threw a stick at that grey cat with the giant head, thought about wine but kept making coffee out of habit, spread some
compost for the next bed, noticed the leaves on the thyme was especially dark green and terrifically strong of flavor, checked on Alice who is recovering remarkably well after being mauled by a fox, set some shotgun shells at the ready in case he comes back, moved the truck so I don't shoot it, and generally took it easy all day.
