Les, I wonder if you might like Wilco or maybe its predecessor Uncle Tupelo? That last song you posted reminded me a little of one of their songs. (No shame if not, everyone has their own tastes!)
I revisited this song (not the one I was thinking of) and found its wisdom both timely and timeless…
One of Jeff’s songs from UT, the one I was actually thinking of :
I have been looking for Christmas songs (or renditions of them) that I actually enjoy. Some Christmas music boils my head but I ran across this album and liked it well enough (found it by searching “christmas” + “folk” tags). I thought it interesting that bouzouki was used too! The Carol of the Beasts might be the Christmas carol I’ve liked best so far. But I haven’t heard the whole album.
I also listened to Joan Baez’s Noel since I had enjoyed other of her music, and found it nice. The woodwinds in I Wonder as I Wander had an interesting quality. That is the other song that has stood out to me.
The Derby Ram also stands out as being hilariously nonsensical!
