We have the cool things about Montana thread but this thread is for all the cool things about Missoula.

This article  Things Everyone From Missoula Should Know is a great start.

Of course the first item is the peace sign!

What else do you think is cool about Missoula?

The old sign

(source)

You could see it from almost anywhere in missoula.

It's an old microwave relay antenna to the bitterroot.   The paint apparently does not affect operation.

The peace sign appeared and the phone company painted over it about a week later.   Another week later the peace sign was back.   And it got painted over again.   And again and again.   Apparently, the "vandals" started to stick around after painting it so they could get arrested and, therefore, get credit.   After a while, the phone company decided to leave it.

When the time cam that the phone company didn't need it anymore, they auctioned off the sign.  You can see a piece of it at rockin' rudy's.

A couple weeks ago I discovered the Painted Horse Carousel.  Adults can ride!  No words for the experience.  I think rides are .75 for children and 1.50 for adults.  And it goes faster than old carousels.  And there's a room where you can see works-in-progress of hand-built, hand-painted ponies.  And you don't have to get off after 1 ride.  What else... there's a dragon 'pony'!  And there's a chariot for those who cannot climb onto a pony.  And there's a children's park.  And and and... it's wow.

The carousel IS amazing! I keep telling adults they need to ride it - even without any kids along! Because it's that fun.

During these weird times, I thought this graphic was pretty cool.

The Roxy Theater is a cool Missoula venue to visit.

I'm about to buy a one way plane ticket to this region of Montana but I can't settle... I have found suitable and potential jobs in Bozeman, Whitefish, Missoula, Kalispell, the Big Sky region, and I've got money to fly there then pay rent for a number of months if needed. I don't really intend to take most of my belongings, just a piece of luggage and a backpack for now...

It's extremely difficult to make a decision as to which town I should choose, especially when considering proximity to suitable homesteading land I intend on purchasing down the road.

If I were in this position I would pick Missoula for several reasons that is if I were just picking a region and not which job is the best fit.

My first reason would be the proximity to Wheaton Labs which has several attractive positions and the events.

From the pictures that I have seen Missoula is beautiful:
