Bears, bees and chain link?

Black bears are a challenge for beekeepers in my area.  I'm working on a community garden that happens to have a chain link fence to protect a windmill nearby.  If I put a bee hive inside the 6' high chain link fence area, what are the odds that a bear would damage the fence (making the windmill maintenance guys mad)?  Can they climb chain link?  Or would they not even think about it?  The posts are cemented in.

I can think of NOTHING that would stop a bear from climbing or damaging chain link, especially if there is a bee hive, unless it is electrified.

Hmm, ok...  Would a midwest sized black bear damage the fence or just climb over it without really ruining it?

We can put an electric fence inside the chain link but can't put it outside due to the chance of zapping members of the general permies.

i would expect significant damage even if they were just climbing over. chainlink stretches and warps and those rascals can weigh a fair bit.
