Hi everyone!

My name is Indigo. I live in Mi'kma'ki (aka Nova Scotia) with my amazing partner, Olive, and a few friends at the moment.

I am a part of the lgbtqia+ community and Autistic/Disabled community! I like to be referred by they/them pronouns, but don't mind too much if people who aren't a big part of my life forget! I know who I am, after all.

I've been studying Herbalism + making herbal medicine for about 6 years now. I grew up in a city and sadly didn't spend much time outside, but once I sat with, learned a bit about, and connected with plants, I never turned back. I also have been studying permaculture, soil science, ASL (American sign language), NVC (non-violent communication), and practicing textile art in my own time. This summer, too, I finally have access to be able to grow an in-ground garden!!! (Of course a lot of what Im growing are medicinal herbs).

My biggest dream is to share and steward Land with my partner and some of our like-minded friends/community. I feel deep in my bones the need to farm and practice ancestral, nature-connected ways of living. I dont think I can be fully happy until I immerse myself in full, holistic, permaculture relation with the Land.

Slowly (because a life of quality takes time), I've been learning skills and ways of living so that I can work towards my dream.

Feel free to say hi! I'd love to make some virtual friends.

HELLO INDIGO:  This is a bit off from a greeting and off from anything remotely permiculture.
But welcome to wonderful world of "permies". I've been a member for about 4 years now. Why I became interested in the site were articles about 'Rocket Stoves', which might interest you living as far North as you do.

I think it is fantastic that we can sit in our homes and hold 'conversations', via forums, with others so far away. I live in the United States, in the state of Indiana now, I'm retired after 35 years with a large electro-optical company in California. I taught MS Office and low level computer courses at a community college for 11 years. I had several pieces of tools to do wood working and have since retiring added a CNC (computer, numerically controlled) desktop system, and a 3 D Printer with a Laser Module that can be attached. I love to use those but in Spring and Summer I spend far more time with gardening.

A Korean friend of mine got me hooked on Asian (particularly Korean) soaps and movies. English sub-titles, but much better than the crude "F" language used on far too many American TV movies.
IF you are Autistic there is a Korean movie playing currently on NetFlix titled, 'Attorney Woo Young Woo', that you might enjoy. The overall theme is of a young girl who is autistic who has read all of her father's law books and eventually becomes an Attorney. It has many different legal cases that the group goes through.

IF that actress is totally acting the part she is doing a good job of it.
IF the actress is actually Autistic and playing the part, then she is doing an Excellent job of it.

I hope you find 'permies' and the forums entertaining and educational.

Hi Indigo! I'm also autistic, queer, and in mi'kma'ki! And also in to medicinal herbs, and originally from the city.

Welcome to the site, and welcome to the life!

So I left, I came home, and I ate some pie. And then I read this tiny ad:
