To people who know this is probably going to be a "well, duh" thing, but it's got me stumped.

Whilst cleaning I came across this weird pot and I don't know what it's for.  It seems to be a double-boiler of some kind, with 4 really tiny removable cups.

Here's the pic (please excuse the messy desk :) )

It's for poaching eggs.

I remember they are hard to clean even after greasing the individual pans.

Mom's was made of aluminum so I didn't keep the one I grew up with.

Later I thought of all kinds of other things it might be useful for like melting bits of beeswax.
