I had the radio on for about 10 minutes this morning and that was all I could stand, I was filled with fear that my brain would soon turn to mush. On my way to turn it off, I heard the "news" person say something like "a snow storm at elevation in Montana", is such an event in the middle of June possible for you guys?
If so, I'd never be able to live in Montana.
My hat off to all the tough folks out there! It was only 91F here today.
Yup, it sure did.
Our mountain tops got some new snow.
It was 36F that morning here at the house.
Our son in Butte got snow in town.

A fair ways farther north, we had frost warnings -- freaky and bizarre at this time of year. Didn't amount to much (+5C up on our hill), but we covered tomatoes anyway. The cold night temperatures basically shut down significant growth on tomatoes, squash, all the heat lovers.
Have no fear, we know a trick or two. We'll have more food that we can eat as the season rolls along.
OK, for full disclosure, I do own a (1) snow shovel. It's all plastic with a thin metal wear strip on the front edge.
For the past three or four years it has been used mostly in clean-up from Mr. Squirrel and friends around a hickory tree in the front yard.
(second worst yard tree ever, but beautiful, #1 being a sweet gum!)
Oh I just checked my weather station thingy, it was showing 98.9F. I don't mind the AC running today!!
Easily possible at higher elevations any month of the year. In HS or early college I joined my parents for a trip on the 4th of July weekend. We started up Beartooth pass only to be turned back as they were closing the road. Left the mountain in early Aug another year in a major blizzard.

Thanks, We were in an evacuation zone but remained in place. The evacuation notice was prudent but maybe a bit overcautious for our particular area. The big concern for me is the number of homeless encampments that are in that area.
Our inability to change everything should not stop us from changing what we can.
