Can we have a thread where we discuss challenges with various retailers and suppliers, and report awesomely helpful and knowledgeable businesses?

I far prefer to support small businesses, and I believe we have a healthier community at all levels when we have small businesses rather than a few Goliaths.

Currently, I am frustrated with Hoegger Farmyard in Georgia.  Historically they made great milking machines, and I have one.  Recently I ordered some stainless steel milk totes from them.  An intermediary processed my transaction on behalf of hoegger’s.  I received confirmation from both Hoegger’s and “Andrew Lauer” that hoeggers got my money.  That was the last I heard from them.  I ordered 2 weeks ago.  I haven’t received a shipping notification, or an expected arrival date. Just an email saying they would notify me when my order shipped.

I have tried several times to reach Hoeggers by telephone, but there’s no answer, and no voicemail option. It just rings and rings.   I have also emailed them, and again get no response.

Today I called the intermediary who processed my credit card on hoegger’s behalf.  I was able to leave a voicemail.  I’m hoping that they will contact Hoeggers and that will get Hoegger’s moving.
I plan to call them tomorrow and Monday if I can’t talk to them tomorrow.

In the meantime, I am wondering how I can alert others about Hoeggers, so that they can avoid frustration, and find out from others where they buy their specialty items.

I am thinking I will reorder elsewhere because I need the milk cans!

Does anyone know any good alternatives?
Thanks

Sorry you had some problems.

I am not familiar with stainless steel milk totes or that company mention.

I like Tractor Supply and dear hubby likes Amazon for his needs.

I would love to support local businesses if their shelves were not bare.

Thanks Anne,

Here’s an image.

I have never seen them at tractor supply, or any other stores large or dsmall in my rural region.

They come in many sizes, and are handy for many uses beyond milk storage.

I entered Hoeggers bankruptcy in my search engine.  The good news is there is no mention of bankruptcy. The bad news is around 2017 the customer complaints seem to have increased greatly regarding their service. It looks like a mom and pop operation.

Thanks John.

It is a family business that has not prospered with newer generations.  Especially customer service.

I won’t order from them again.  I wonder how other companies compare. I don’t want to go through experiences like this with one company after another, so anybody that has insight into other online entities, I would love to hear your experiences and insights.

Lehmans, 12 or more years ago, carried both large and small milk cans as well as funnels and strainers.  Both USA made and lmport.  It has been many years since I ordered from them, but at that time their service was outstanding!!!

I think they may have been bought out by someone.

Peace

If you have an Amish community nearby, they usually have a kitchenware or general store that sells these. But it is a real treasure hunt to find them.

I see them in the stainless pile at my local scrap yard pretty often.

Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed. He made this tiny ad:
