Has anyone used cornmeal and baking soda to successfully get rid of voles?

Showing my ignorance again
...how do you administer against mice? Our house is almost surrounded by 38 acres of hay fields, and becomes a mouse magnet in winter months

Please note that cornmeal and baking soda (if effective)  will cause a lingering death.

While snap traps and similar require participation, I prefer giving a quick or instant death, over a method that causes the animal to linger for a while.

Dried instant potato flakes have been effective for me. I've been looking at that pressure sensitive switch that hooks onto a shop vac hose, that looks pretty effective.

Our inability to change everything should not stop us from changing what we can.

Will the cornmeal, baking soda and sugar with peanut butter bait work on black rats? Deer mice? Is there any chance it could harm cats, owls or crows?  Is there a video on this?
