I won $28 million in the Lotto 649 lottery. Looking for ideas and someone to move to the farm.

Any good ideas appreciated. The money could be spent on my place, projects at your place or invested in some permie way.

Congratulations! We should all be so lucky. My big permie idea has been the concept of a permiculture greenhouse/nursery, but I am somewhat rooted at the moment and unable to make a move freely (even then my big planned eventual move would be to Tennessee rather than Canada) or I'd be laying out the whole thing right now! I'm sure there will be a dozen great ideas to work with. Good luck and again a huge congratulations!

I'm about to transition from outdoor infrastructure work to rehabilitating the upstairs, bath, and kitchen for guests (clean under aluminum roof, install mesh to block critter passages, install insulation, decide what sort of ceiling under insulation, and figure out how to deal with the floor, install plastic bottle layer on exterior walls on balcony to block moisture and insulate, "fix" the bathroom floor and create an outdoor kitchen (in weather protected space next to house)... I've already purchased most materials and tools.

My intention is to make a comfortable place for travelers and folks seeking new digs...

Cool! I would suggest taking things VERY slow and not making any major purchases / investments / giving away money for the first year. The percentage of lottery winners that end up bankrupt is terrifying. Depending on the amount of press you get, people will be coming out of the woodwork to ask for money.

April is Dale Awareness Month

Handicapped permaculture garden as therapy, education center, medicine growing, and healthy food that can be taken home. It would be modeled around other community garden aspects, but with varied access to accommodate alll types of disabilities. Have already had small plans approved, and funding offered by the US government. But never really followed through because of the hoops and lack of understanding the concepts, we would not have been able to design as we liked, defeating the purpose of the permaculture design. Ie, huge expenses from 'certified' contractors, use of chemical treated materials, and many other things you could imagine the government wanted to see. We are too financially bound to fund the project from pocket, as well as the immediate needs of operating a market garden. This project would not start immediately, nor start large, but a growing process, and a learning experience, as the participants would be active in the design, to help understand the unique needs of the very lacking handicapped accessible garden. We are currently in contact with a wheelchair bound individual, who was raised on, and managed an early, and still functioning permaculture farm. Who would be more than willing to help manage the project. We are also in touch with well known publishers that have interest in printing a book, on said topic.

A good april fools prank, but it's nice to still dream, right?

It was scary. Some idiots stole an alligator from a zoo and the cops seized it. Due to lack of space, they put it in a weak wooden crate in my cell.

I once convinced a friend,  that one of the jacks had slipped while I was working under a vehicle,  and that I needed him to come because it was teetering. Another time, I convinced a fellow that his excavator was six feet deep in muskeg and still sinking.

I once spent an entire day, with scissors, the grocery xerox machine, and a pocketful of nickels. I cut up a school district letterhead, and made an impressive looking note, and mailed it to my own home. The note included inside, with real post stamp and all, a message informing I tried, and succeeded on catching the school bus interior on fire. Saying that the school tried multiple times to contact my parents via phone, with no success. My parents were now required to pay for the damage done, and must drive me to school, due to indefinite suspension from the bus. It took my mother calling the school, and asking what happened, for her to belive me. It helped that my father knew it was april fools, but went along when my mother came home. My favorite part about this story is: my mother noticed there was many spelling errors, and terrible grammar. She just thought it was due to the incredible incompetence of the school staff, which she grew to accept. I was ten years old.

My best one is a physical gag. I come out of the bathroom and tell everybody that I've caught my junk in the zipper and seek help. I also bend my fingers and pretend to get caught when friends close a car door or close the hood. It helps to squeal.

Great April Fool's joke! But it has got us thinking over here...what WOULD we do with millions of dollars and a permaculture mission? I think I'll start a new thread to explore this idea...
