Do you get enough rainfall to get the grass established? I would recommend native grasses.
Eastern Gamagrass is the most productive forage grass on the planet. The seeds need to be exposed to cold, moist conditions before sprouting though you can get live roots.
Here is a list of grasses for shade:
Inland Sea Oats, Purpletop, Prairie Wildyre, White Tridens, Sideoats Grama,Plains Bristlegrass, Texas Wintergrass, Virginia Wildrye, and Southwestern Bristlegrass.
