I ventured over to ZoeLand to plant some walking onion bulbils. I watered them in well, because otherwise they probably would wait a while before trying to grow (it has been very dry). I marked the spot (just downhill of the ZoeLand sign) with some sticks so i can find it again for watering and maybe adding other plants or mulch.

Experimental planting technique… we’ll see how it goes! This is how a child might think to plant corn 🤔

Your corn planting reminds me of all the times my childhood self tried to plant mint by sticking the leaves in the ground. Everyone told me that mint was easy to grow and that you couldn't kill it if you tried. I really wanted some of my mint plant in my own "garden," but it never worked! Apparently, I should have tried some root sections, or maybe even pieces of stem, not just the leaves!

Here's hoping your corn works out better than my mint did!

I returned to ZoeLand to find some of the walking onions i planted last time were peeking out of the ground for a taste of sunshine.

Then i planted some comfrey pieces near the onion patches. The ground was a little damp from last week's rain, but i still watered everything in good.

Sunflower, pumpkin, squash, beans, peas, brassicas.. all together on a contour line that leads to the zoeland bench.. they’ll likely pop up in the spring as the snow melts into the ground.. yay!

I returned to ZoeLand to check on the growies and to plant some sunchokes. The onions are all doing well and have put on decent fall growth. The comfrey all leafed out, but have taken some damage (from grasshoppers?). I'm sure they will grow faster than the nibbles in the spring.

Sunchokes on my plot are struggling a bit with deer pressure. I'm hoping that since Dez will be within sight of ZoeLand next year, it might deter the deer a little.
