I'm not sure what the first one is. It looks kinda like a reddish coyote, or a grayish fox. What do people think? Is there an easy way to tell them apart in a slightly fuzzy photo? I know we have both here.
The next two photos are of deer. First is a deer sneaking around in the middle of the night. The next is a young buck moving at dusk.
A couple days ago I was working up near the top of the mountain and found a couple of spiders, I'm still not sure what the second one is, it had a bit of red mixed in on its body.
coyote. legs are long and body is dog-like proportion to body. not shorty legs and longer body plus long tail like a fox would be. also fox faces are quite short and pointy seeming, not long snouts like a dog or coyote.
We have a new game cam. The date and time are wrong, even though i already fixed it once. At least it got some good shots. There have been a few storms and a branch moved into the frame.
The first photo is a deer.
The second photo is nearly obscured by the moving branch, but a mountain lion passes by!
Gary, according to MT F&W: "Adult mountain lions vary in weight from 85-120 pounds for females to 120-180 pounds for males, and may reach seven to eight feet in length from their nose to the tip of their tail. Mountain lions typically are two to three feet high at the shoulder." So, pretty powerful little kitties. Luckily they are not fond of hanging around humans.
Here are a bunch more deer from the game cams.
