It's looking like a reply with lots of naked videos was made to a post from 2011. That called attention to the 2011 post, which was reported by users as spam. Staff agreed, so the whole thread winked out of existence when the spam was deleted. We burned through a few hours of volunteer staff time in the process.
Moderation is such a tangled network that it's astonishing that it works so well most of the time.
It was about diabetes. I did include several videos, but I also offered explanation as to their relevance. If the girbot was in relation to the videos, fine, but why delete the thread altogether?
Our system is currently set up so that if the first post of a thread is deleted, the whole thread is deleted. It's not something we can control, it's just what happens .
