To Staff as I have located no other way to respond to you. My Lord I was actually excited about this site and it’s a migraine induction tool!

“Dear Sir or Madam:

I have absolutely no idea to what you are referring. I am a first time participant in any of your public forums and did begin to attempt to write a very appreciative comment in response to something I appreciated. Because I find your system quite difficult to to navigate (Perfect example the face that I have no clue if you’ll even receive this message because there’s no reply feature!) that I deleted my comment entirely.

Now let me be quite clear that I am upset. In that it’s my interpretation of your message that I’ve done something entirely inappropriate, I absolutely hope that this is nothing more than a hand slapping because I missed a quotation mark.

I hope the courtesy of an explanation will be provided.

Thank you.

Denise M. Maloney”

Denise, the notice to edit a post is a form thingy that always sounds kind of harsh, especially if it comes on your first post.
I think that I remember your post though and maybe the only problem was that your reply was within the quotes of the post that you were quoting? and that made it unclear.

Anyway, welcome to the forums...we are not at all that scary in general...just that 'edit' notification

Someone from staff will pop in and let you know what's what...I'm just guessing.....

I'll add a link to your post https://permies.com/t/126844/Homestead-Chronic-Illness#1006027

I found it a bit weird the first time I got that message too. It's there for a good reason though - if you have a look at your post it looks you just have the [/quote] tag in the wrong place, so it gets confusing for people reading it, as they don't know what you are quoting and what is your own words.

If you move the [/quote] tag up to where the quoted text ends, it will make it much easier for everyone to read.

Hi Denise, sorry that Gir Bot (our automated communication robot) caused you a migraine.  There are only a few canned messages that he/she can generate and they have to handle all sorts of situations so they aren't always as soft and gentle as they should be.

Yes, all that went wrong was that you put your reply inside of the quote.  So it looked like the person you quoted also said your stuff.  So, if you are up for it, just click on the edit link from the Gir Bot email and fiddle with it. OR, go back to the original post you quoted and do a whole new reply and we'll erase the first one if that's easier.

Sorry and we're glad to have you!

Actually, there was no real reply. The post was nothing but a quote.

Maybe it was quoting something as in agreement in which case maybe a simple "I agree" above or below the quote would have been in order.

Denise explained that she removed her reply after receiving the staff notification to edit so now all is left is the quoted post.  I think the reply was within the quotes so wasn't apparent as a reply.
