Missing symbols in my post!

I made a post today and noticed that it was missing the top right hand symbols....only the edit symbol shows.  Please explain/look into this.

Oh I see it's now gained the quote symbol.  It is still missing the +1 -1 and pie symbols

Yes I know - sorry I wasn't clear.  I meant that just the quote symbol wasn't there....it mysteriously is now.  

However I see that this post I've just made doesn't have the quote sign either. Very strange since the edit button is there.

It's a known bug.

It took a while to find because it's only invisible to the poster and usually self-repairs after a few hours.

Because of it self-repairs, it is a low priority fix.  But I'll give it a nudge to see if we can move it up the queue.

OK.  Just seen your reply here and it's now 5 hours on so hasn't self repaired.  Is this bug affecting other member's posts too?

It's really hard to tell because it's a bug only visible to the poster.

To fix a bug, the developers have to be able to reproduce it, which has been a problem in this case.  (I suspect it only happens to people who were born with Mars in retrograde and a crescent moon - I joke)

Is it still showing up weird after clearing your browsers history?
Are you viewing on a mobile or desktop view?
which browser?  Which operating system?

I've just cleared my browser's history and yep...still the same situation.
I have a laptop and am in Mozilla Firefox, Windows 10

It would be interesting to learn if others are experiencing this too i.e. not serious enough to warrant taking up a lot of your time just for myself - minor issue after all.

The self-repairing bug does seem to follow people - we think it might be a stuck cookie or possibly a browser/computer/IP provider setting.  There might be a relationship to using a VPN. Or it could be linked to something completely unrelated. There's a lot of theories what's causing it.  

Since it's been self-repairing (so far) and non-reproducible, it's got very low priority and most of the development time is going towards a top-secret project that is going to be epic!

Some amazing people worked on this and they think the bug is mostly solved.

Can you clear your cookies and give it a test for us?

It is now showing 3 symbols quote, the share boomerang one and 3 dots i.e. not the edit one.  However, when I click on the 3 dots it shows the edit one.  Better than nothing I guess.  Let's leave it like this i.e. I didn't mean you to look into this just for myself as I indicated it was no big deal - thought it could be easily sorted initially (without much detective work!)

It's good to report this kind of things.  We've been trying to track this bug down for years!  Since before I joined permies.

I think you mentioned the report button was missing sometimes.  Did that fix with this update?

Ah glad that you had other reasons for pursuing this glitch.

When I click on the 3 dots, both the edit and the report button appear.  The quote is there initially and also stays there after clicking on the 3 dots.

I also notice the (...) see more button, today when I tried to edit. I thought it was a new feature that was added today.
Once I clicked on it the Report and Edit buttons showed up. I then thought that maybe they were overwhelmed by folks incorrectly pressing the report button, or maybe too many folks like me was editing there post 5times. Then I thought maybe they are going to roll out an amry of buttons and so they are prepping the system now.
