getting my freebie

I am signed up for the 'Daily...' and have been watching for that document to become 'free to download' as your site says it shall, then I keep getting the email referring to the freebies, and that #39 "Solar Station Construction Plans by Ben Peterson -- ebook" is ready for download, but I see no link for the FREE DOWNLOAD, and the text YOU typed is the only string that appears on the page (see attached  screenshot).

It is VERY confusing when you say something is GOING TO BE available for FREE DOWNLOAD, then start sending out emails regarding the 'freebies' and therein state that the "Solar Station Construction Plans by Ben Peterson -- ebook" is ready for download...

What EXACT TEXT (in emails, which is where we are told the notice shall come) should we ACTUALLY be looking for to signify that particular document is ACTUALLY "Ready for FREE Download" ?!?

I'm looking at your freebie list, and it looks like it hasn't been sent to you yet. It looks like a few others have been sent to you, but you haven't claimed those. Did you spot those ones in your email--did you try to download those, or not spot the links?

Right now, I think the dailyish freebies are at the bottom, above the tiny ad. They say something like:

"Thanks for reading the daily-ish email!  We believe that your participation in our community is changing the world for the better! To express our gratitude, here's a bonus freebie for you!  You have 48 hours to grab this.  If you don't get it within 48 hours, don't worry - it will be offered to you again later.

(I snagged that off of one of my old emails. The link that looks kind of like https://permies.com/forums/freebie/show/36q4wjxd8 will be different code for everyone, but yours will looks something like that. I have no idea which freebies go out when. I'm pretty sure there's a program that randomly chooses the freebie. But this one hasn't been sent to you, so keep an eye out for it. And, maybe if you spy a different freebie in your dailyish, click on the link to practice? Clicking the link will claim that freebie for you, and you'll be able to download/view it whenever you want. I'm hoping maybe if you do that, when the Solar Station one comes around, you won't have any problem finding and getting it.)

Know you are not alone in your confusion, Bruce. I, too, found it very confusing and have meanwhile given up on the whole thing. I may have managed one free something, though. I don't remember. I do know that when I did try to download something that was supposed to be free, I was told that I already signed up (when asked to enter my e-mail). I ended up feeling like the whole thing wasn't worth the effort to try to figure out. I hope it ends up going better for you! lol

The only links that should work for getting freebies should be the ones in your dailyish. I don't think it'll ever take more than a week for you to get one in your email.

The links should look something like:
https://permies.com/forums/freebie/show/36q4wjxd8.

It should not look like this:
https://permies.com/goodies/7#frfp

If you click that link within 48 hours, you'll have claimed it, and can access it at any time.  

Annie, if you have a chance, could you go back through your emails and see if you've ever gotten something that says:

"Thanks for reading the daily-ish email!  We believe that your participation in our community is changing the world for the better! To express our gratitude, here's a bonus freebie for you!  You have 48 hours to grab this.  If you don't get it within 48 hours, don't worry - it will be offered to you again later."

I want to make sure that they are actually getting sent out and there isn't a glitch. I'm looking at your freebies (https://permies.com/goodies), and you've been sent something like 13 of them, and not been able to claim any, so I'm worried that maybe they aren't going out like they should.

Nicole, I checked my e-mails and entered part of the phrase in the search bar. 2 e-mails showed up offering freebies, one in February and one in March. Hope that helps.

Thank you! That is really helpful! Do you happen to know if you deleted any? Because if it's saying you've been emailed 13, and you're only seeing 2, something is really wonky here!

Is there any chance you can forward the email with the title "Cassie's new film; Shawn's podcast series; Paul and Uncle Mud video!" to permies@permies.com? I don't delete e-mails often at all, but maybe deleted one or two of the daily-ish ones. I received one today and tried it and everything worked. Maybe all things will be fine from here on out.

Yes, I got it, but it took several tries. The first time I clicked on the email link, it wanted me to sign into Permies, except that I was already signed in. I clicked sign-in anyway, and was taken to the forums main page rather than the download page. The next time I copy and pasted the link into an open forum page and was able to get it.

Weird, I just tried it with mine, and that didn't happen to me. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm trying to figure out what might have caused that.
