One year at Christmas, my dear hubby was given a bottle of coffee liqueur.  I don't remember the brand name though I don't think it was Kahlua.  Anyway, it was something DH did not want so he gave it to me.  That bottle probably lasted at least 10 years.

I liked to put a little in my hot chocolate every now and then.  I have really been missing it lately so I looked to see if I could find a recipe.

I used the ingredients from this one: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/235010/holiday-coffee-liquor

Ingredients: Original recipe yields 84 servings

Ingredient

   4 cups boiling water
   4 cups white sugar
   2 cups vodka
   ⅔ cup instant coffee powder
   3 tablespoons vanilla extract

And the directions from this one: https://www.thespruceeats.com/homemade-coffee-liqueur-766126

Steps to Make It

   Gather the ingredients.

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the vanilla bean, sugar, and water to create a simple syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Reduce to a simmer. When the sugar solution has been reduced by half—or after about 30 minutes—remove the pan from the heat. Stir in 8 tablespoons of quality instant coffee. Allow the mixture to cool.

In a sealable glass jar or bottle, combine the flavored syrup with the rum or vodka. Shake well and let sit in a cool, dark area for 10 days. Every day or two, give the bottle a good shake.

After 10 days, strain the liqueur through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove all the coffee granules and the vanilla bean. Store in a sealed liquor bottle.

Enjoy the liqueur on its own or use it in coffee liqueur cocktails!

I will know how good it is in 10 days!

My father made coffee liqueur years ago with home roasted coffee. It was the best coffee liqueur I have had.
