Interesting to see those interpretations of the gingerbread house (which to me was always iconic for Germany due to the Grimm tales).
In our district we have a
local Baker's Guild which makes a big gingerbread house and installs it in one of the communities of our district. My kids fondly remember the year it was hosted in our townhall and keep asking when it is coming back. Of
course they secretly nibbled on the house at it is supposed to be :-)
As there are 17 communities and much more hamlets in our district it takes a time until the circle is completed!
So this year the gingerbread house is in the capital of the district:
Prices of ingredients for gingerbread (and other bread) and especially gas for heating the ovens have skyrocketed over the last months and some bakers already have gone bankrupt. They will receive some government aid but I hope they will survive those critical times. Bakeries and bakery-made gingerbreads are the best!
