Hello everyone, please call me
Mouse. I'm excited to get to know you all.
I'm a queer lady living on a quarter acre homestead in suburban Ohio with my partners. We breed Rex
rabbits, New Zealand White rabbits, Easter Egger and Ameraucana
Chickens, and we have three lovely dogs together, ages 14, 10 and 2. We maintain an extensive subsistence heirloom garden, about 500 sqft of plants in addition to the small livestock.
I took a free into to
permaculture course from Oregon State University a while back, it took place right during planting season so I didn't keep up
enough to "finish" but I learned a lot. It was really enjoyable. We're looking at moving to a more rural property in the future and expanding into more perennials -
trees and shrubs and berry cane fences and rotational pasture and more. Outside of that I'm active in my community with connections across several serious topics (Rank the Vote, LGBTQ, Mutual aid, etc.), but I'm most involved with a
local Ecovillage and
Intentional Community project. If you're looking for an Ecovillage or Intentional Community in Ohio or have a project like that started, please reach out to me! I'd love to talk and invite you to talk to other like minded folks! Otherwise, you can find us on FB under the name Western Reserve Eco Network or just see some fun pictures on instagram @wren_ohio. I have a lot of on-farm hobby projects that have ranged from canning and preservation, tanning hides, sewing, bone cleaning/collection, ceramics, cooking, foraging, pyrography and more. If there's something about
sustainable, off grid or primitive living, crafting, etc. I've probably dabbled in it a bit.
Off the farm I'm a big nerd that is spread out across gaming (tabletop, board and video types), anime,
books, science,
art, sewing, and more. My interests are pretty diverse.
I hope to get to know you all and learn more about this forum. Feel free to ask me anything. :)
