... Yes ! - this should be Us.

What is life otherwise? - filled with substitutions and lost chances, and misplaced meaning... wasted joys!

... 64 years young (looks/feels much younger!) - non-electric/non-solar 'Amish' homesteader (yes! - hat, broadfall pants and all)....

.... owning 2 homesteads free and clear; 12 acres in IL (vacant) - 67 acres in IN (residing - 50 minitues apart)... both have hand pumps etc.

.... never smoked/drank/done drugs - no piercings/tattoos  etc... non-competitive (never followed sports, avoids games etc) yet finds enjoyment in a job well done! - doing things creatively and efficiently is a useful hobby.

.... optimistic and cheerful! - no such thing as 'work' or  'chores'; just opportunities to do things better/more efficiently (so we can play more)

.... avoids crowds (but can/will take charge - then vanish) - relishes solitude (snowed in for 5 weeks? - hooray!!)

.... agnostic/non-religious (to maintain clear perspective to better serve) - employs Socratic thought to address challenges.

... cooks/bakes creatively from scratch (without making a mess!) - keeps clean, airy home (raised in German household)... prefers rustic, healthy meals but can make a mean shrimp fettucini al fredo (all this on a woodstove)... a handful of wheat and a rabbit makes a pizza.

... no longer listens to music (listens to the world sing)... no tv for last 40 year never owned a computer.

.... 5'8 - so doesn't take up much room! - never dieted/excercised; swinging scythe etc keeps one in shape.

... so strange to refer to Self; something long avoided...

.... caveat; am Very tactile; will require someone with endless reserves... every day is a honeymoon! - good day/bad day; hugs and snuggles are in order... intimate preferences are quite conservative; and am quite well-behaved... in fact will need a bit of reassurance to get/keep things going.

- sun and warm wind in long prairie grasses
- roaring rain on a metal roof

Hi. My name is Melissa and your post sounds alot like me. Im 36. 5' 1. 120 pounds. Blue eyes and dark blonde hair. Almost looks brown. No kids. Just two cats who are my babies. Currently live in southeast Wisconsin, in the city in a small apartment which i greatly dislike. The city is not a great fit for me as the people here are insane and to put it nicely conduct themselves in a disgusting manner in the way they speak, live and act. Drugs, swearing, sex, and materialist things is all they care about. I do not pass judgement on people or how they choose to live there lives but its very hard to be in this environment for me day in and day out. Im a loner type by nature. Very shy and reserved and do not like being in large crowds. I seek to be close to nature. Since the age of 16 i have studied herbs and naturopathy. And am very well adept in everything pertaining to herbs, nutrition, naturopathy, diseases etc etc. My current passions are art, gardening, animals, cooking, learning how to live off grid and food preservation and other self reliant skills of that nature. I seek to leave this life in the city as there is nothing here for me to fill my soul or mind. As for kids;  i no longer wish or seek to have kids or bring them into this world we now find ourselves in. And as for sexual relations of any kind that is sacred and to be saved only in the event of marriage. Im a very upfront honest open minded person and dont beat around the bush or hide what i want in life. I seek to connect with someone on a soul level. To me that is more important then whatever a person looks like. I seek intimacy on the deepest level that transcends anything superficial. What a person wears, drives or owns means nothing to me as those things do not fill me, motivate me or make me happy. I am not a agonist however and do believe and follow Yashua. I do not have a problem with you being a agonist as long as my beliefs and your beliefs don't create a conflict with each other. However i could never be tied to someone who practices paganism, witchcraft, or any new age stuff. But agnostic is fine. I do not seek to change anyone or impose my beliefs on others or convert them. If you would like to get to know me more you can email me at melcred@yahoo.com. I dont really get on this site much and hate technology and all that stuff. I do not have any social media accounts etc. That would be the best way to reach me. And i can send some pics to you as well if you would like thru email. I just dont want my pictures on the www for the whole world to see as i dont trust technology or many people either for that manner. Hope to hear from you. But if i dont i wish you the best in terms of finding what you are looking for in life.

... Thank You Melissa! - sending email directly; the age difference would make a mentorship the most appropriate proposal - or can supply how- to info for living non-electric.

I am so enjoying reading the way you create. Your passion to co-create with another is refreshing. Plus, your sense of humor and playfulness with words puts a huge smile all through myself. You are a refreshing person.

I grew up with the Aimish/Mennonites in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY. Our organic family farm of 1800 A raises organic food for Wegmans grocery stores. Were you born into the life style or some where along the way adapted your ways to their ways? Just curious. Please answer me, Janette (Jan) Lee Nash, at my business address, if you would like, of Srachele2004@yahoo.com.

Such a feat to type here as it is small. I found my way to this site researching communities in Southern Oregon for a friend. We are in a Permaculture Design Class together based in Costa Rica. My Farm in Luxor, Egypt is about 15 minutes of a  donkey and cart drive from the West Bank of the Nile. Been here 8 years now. The farm was chosen as a design project. I had to decline as my farming partner, Abdul Auf, had a stroke induced by covid meditation 3 weeks ago at the age of 45. He is stable and can speak and the left side of his body was affected. Too much for me to farm without him. We are a Sanctuary Farm that grows and processes all the food for our resident cows, goats, donkeys, camel, horse, and my 3 dogs. Just turned 69 April 2. The way I see it is I replace Auf or go on to a other life style with other people. I was married to an Egyptian and he passed of a heart attack in 2017. I am a single widow now!!

If you would like to establish a friendship, I would be open to that. You are a fascinsting person and I have many a question for you. Yes, our farm work keeps us in shape. I am 5' 4'', blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. Probably 130 pounds. I am a strong and muscularor person
With kind regards,, Jan

Hi Thomas,  what a fun post here.  I've never been to either IN or IL, so that is interesting to me!   I'm kind of a sucker for nice shoulders,  good picture ;)

I'm 52, and I've been around here on the permies site for a while, so feel free to poke around at any of my posts and comments,  they are scattered around everywhere here.

In a nutshell;  I'm living in MA now,  sold a small farm a few years back,  doing urban stuff now.   Starting to contemplate what/where the next chapter of my life will look like and where it will be.   I've been single for about 15 or so years (I forget the exact year).    I raise and train dogs as both a profession and a hobby,  kind of a big deal for me.   But I have and like cats as well.

Lots of assorted animal care experience;  from dairy farms as a kid to wildlife rehab to pre-vet classes,  to orphaned animal care,  dogs I already mentioned, and have raised sheep, pigs, ducks (love them),  rabbits as livestock.   Done a bit of tanning.   Would love to learn more about hunting and fishing especially.   Gardening,  after dogs that's my second love.  I've got home gardens as well as two allotment gardens currently.

Reach out and say hello if you'd like.    Here, or messages.   I don't mind chatting publicly or privately.   Have internet 3 days a week so be patient if I don't jump right on a response!

... Hello!

...Ah! - I Did recognize Your name from the post so Bravely created and managed on the permies singles forum

... So surprised to hear from You! (or Anyone for that matter)... indeed 'dating' these days (in any form) is like a visit to a wax museum that is criss-crossed with invisible 'third rails' should one transgress anothers' ideals or "deal breaker' parameters - which is both humiliating and inevitible    :b

.... So - we turn to simple communications with 'like-minded' individuals  and hope to avoid the blinding  blue thunderclap and smell of burnt hair and ozone by forgoing the 'selection process' altogether

... I would fervently wish to be a viable option in Your 'quest'! - the difference in age renders me better suited as a mentor.... however I would be delighted to share my age-induced experience with any / all who may be interested in non-electric living or homesteading in general

... You have a Wonderful and Gracious outlook and manner  and would be an irreplaceable asset to anyone fortunate enough to enjoy Your company

... I apologize for the tardy response! - I finally had to replace my 'smart device' (my only technological concession and link to the outside world) and am still battling with the new one... I will happily forward photos (if requested) to offer insight to operations here

...Thank You for Your message!
- Thomas

..p.s. - the 'physique' per se is merely the result of homestead activities...  however I am abashed (yet flattered) to be complimented

...  The Holidays are upon Us! - and heralded by an approaching Winter storm of considerable magnitude

.... Is there a Permaculture Someone out there who enjoys quiet living? - the Years have become increasingly lonely as the World changes around us... few persons that have responded - as can be seen... non-electric 'Amish' life may be a bit Too 'sustainable' for the average  Female hominid

... Would Anyone enjoy corresponding? - or be interested in exploring a viable partnering? - Do feel free to message! - it's not like there's a crowd to push through

....  Best Wishes to All for the Holiday season!

...  a warm sort of Winter this year! --- is there a Someone out there with a Warm Heart?

....  it seems difficult nowadays when becoming aquainted to avoid stepping on the 'third rail' and suddenly ending communications due to someone's 'beliefs' --- which is of course part of the process ... Always best to approach Life as objectively as possible!   ---  but...  it still hurts ...

Hi Thomas,
I once had a pair of monkeys just like the ones in your pic. They hid in the dark for many years waiting for someone special to give them to. Well, I befriended someone a couple of years ago who told me they like to give hugs and it warmed my heart. In their own words "I'd like to wheel right up to you and give you a big hug!" This person lives clear across the country from me and we've never physically hugged, but I sent the pair of monkeys to let her know I would love to give her hugs too.  You see she is a young woman, in her early 40's who has been blind and paralyzed almost since birth.  She is blind because she was a "shaken baby" at the hands of one who was supposed to be her protector and who brought her into this world. I cried when I heard her story because I know my father loved me and would never, ever have done such a thing to me.  My friend is in a wheelchair and totally dependent on others for help in daily living activities. She has a huge heart and a good thinking mind and loves people and loves God.  She prays for people and she serves as a resource consultant for the handicapped - helping others like herself find suitable housing, jobs and other necessary resources. It is humbling when I think of all the good things I've had in my life (looking back over 68 years) and yet she is deserving of at least that much and more.  Life does not always seem or turn out "fair" but where does real love, joy and happiness come from?   Isn't real meaning and purpose in life found in giving and spreading happiness, goodwill and love to others and to be a channel for good where we can?  Despite our loneliness, there are many who are hurting all around and much less well-off, struggling through life in all kinds of ways. Why? Who will help them?  When? I often ask (the deepest) questions.   Do you have questions?  Do you have answers?  Would you like to share questions and look for answers together?  The years are passing...with ever- increasing speed.
