So I've been trying to get on the forums for a few days now, and I just get the message from "evolution hosting" or something that the pages are not there. I finally found them through a google search.

The main forum link on the https://permies.com main page is wrong as is a number of other links on that page.

https://permies.com/permaculture-forums is gone?
https://permies.com/forums seems to be the replacement?

Was I the only one in the dark about this change? Should not an email be sent to members or some kind of notification as to what is going on?

I got that, too. However, I noticed that it loaded fine in Firefox whereas I got that error message in Chrome, which is the browser I normally use. Weird. I was going through withdrawals without my daily permies fix!

In Internet Explorer, the links work, but the main/index page at www.permies.com is completely different than if I go through Firefox.

Obviously Permies has some way to detect which browser is used, and is sending some Firefox users to an outdated Index page that Internet Explorer users never see.

I had one of my favorite net forums disappear overnight one time, no real explanation, just gone and never came back- I was a afraid permies was gone too!

We recently had a server downtime (for a few minutes I believe) for the permies site. Those of you who accessed the site during that period were shown a message from our hosting provider "evolution hosting" about the site not being available.

The site has been up after those few minutes of outage. But certain browsers tend to show cached pages, which means that some users who had visited the site during the outage are still being served the (cached) outage message, by your browser. Those of you who are still seeing that message, please clear your browser cache from the last couple of days. For Firefox browser, here's how you do it:

- Select 'tools' in the main firefox menu
- Then 'clear recent history' and an appropriate time range, making sure 'cache' was selected.

Edit: Fixed a couple of typos

I'm not techie enough to explain it all, but there was a glitch and if you ended up redirected to an evolution hosting page. Somehow, that page gets stuck in your computer's cache.

For Firefox, choose the 'tools' menu, then 'clear recent history', select 'chache', and then choose a time range. I used 'today', but that was yesterday, so maybe 'everything' is more appropriate.

I've no idea who to do that with Internet Explorer though.

Edit - oops, was posting this at the same time as Jaikarin, who knows much more about these things than I do!

Yes, thanks, I thought permies was gone also.

For Firefox I didn't have a tools tab, had to Hit:

Firefox --> Options --> Options --> Network --> Cache Clear Now
