It’s Friday and here's another nature picture from me. There's been a lot of discussion about black walnuts this week and here in the North East of the US, there's a good crop this year. This is totally different kind of nut. It looks very similar to a black walnut, but that's where the comparison ends. It is tropical and twice the size. It falls with a green outer layer that slow rots but the good ones float. And you can't eat them. I collected a few dozen and used them as decorations filling a large glass pilar vase. When I took this I was trying my hand at still life, which I never enjoyed. I'd much rather go out and about, observe and find things in a natural setting to shoot.
It's been a mixed week. I strained my back and have to see a doctor today. It's healing already so I expect a good outcome. I don't like getting old! I was pretty bomb proof for the first 30 odd years of my life and sometimes I forget that I need to be a bit more careful. It's my younger son's 14th birthday today. I packed a lunch with lots of goodies for him and his friends to share. I'll be making homemade pizza today as that's still his favourite food. Tomorrow we head into Manhattan for the first time since 2019 and going to the cinema for the first time in two years! Going to the movies we took for granted, so it feels very special.
I started time restricted eating, the flip-side of fasting on Monday. It's going well. I was breakfasting at 6am and the last meal of the day was around 6pm. Now I wait a few hours in the morning and eat earlier in the evening. I feel good so far. The mornings are a little tough, but I get through if I just line myself up with a bunch of tasks and crack on. I enjoy a big meal mid morning and another mid afternoon and I'm done. It's very early days and I'm monitoring how I feel. The goal is to make it to day 30 and then it should feel normal. Potentially, I could loose some weight and get better sleep.
Have a great weekend.
