I am serious.  Along with farmstands/ produce stands, what could be a better way to show the average person that we can grow and raise really tasty... like way better tasty... really nutritious... "better than organic" super fresh food?  What it would take would be maybe 5 permaculture polyculture farms and Saltin style livestock ranchers doing things the right way... like Salatins says, the consumer can show up and take a tour of the farm.  Honest, humane, ethical, natural, real food.  Also needed would be an owner/chef or an investor/owner and chef.  Simple, real food for normal people.  Cut out the shipping, storage, etc middle men. Honest food for an honest price.  I am not in the permanent location, nor do I have the money to comply with regulations and fees to get started yet.  But, I have written 4 books and have also been a caterer - it is a whole lot easier to get people to buy a sandwich than a book!

I would love it, in theory! A place to get good food that's still "common," even when I want a midnight snack. It seems like most places around here that use local food are only open a few hours per day (usually lunch or dinner) and serve less common food, like vegan sandwiches with sprouts (not knocking it, but that's not what I typically crave). I want someone else to cook and clean the kitchen while I eat pastured bacon and free range eggs, organic potatoes, local grits with cheese from pastured cows, etc.

Exactly!  I was just sitting there thinking how good some "smothered and covered hash browns" would be, maybe with some steak and eggs or a cheeseburger, when I remembered how much I used to love stopping into such places in the middle of the night.  They are nostalgic and comforting.  The food really tases good and the people watching can be very interesting.  I even like the smell of grease, stale cigarette smoke and burned coffee.. all that is missing is a Tom Waits song! Then, I thought how nice it would be if the food was really fresh and local and "better than organic".  I just don't get midnight cravings for bean sprots or granola!
