Greetings gang, I've drawn mostly on cardboard, but I wanna improve my skills to make it world class and making it live to everyone to see. Could you all show me some inovative designs and stuff that are sustainable to draw and see so they resemble nature. I have an art show coming up about cardboards and I wanna make mine great. Are there some cardboard paintings too? Take care!

When I had my first baby, dear hubby had been out of work so money was really tight.

I wanted the baby to have a mobile to hang over the crib to keep the baby occupied looking at the colorful swinging objects.

I made one out of cardboard, string or thread, and poster paint.

It is now just a memory that kept two babies entertained. If my memory is correct this was a clown with balloons.  I remember the colors being red, blue, and yellow.

Thanks for the memory...

Nice memory. I'm wondering if anybody draws or paint pictures now on this board. Right now I'm doing animals and plants from the wild.

During our battle for chickens in my town we put yard signs up.
I learned that if you want to draw on something that is going to be outside,
crayon will stand up to the rain and sun.

I'm looking into painting first and then do over in color pencil, since I had an art workshop in Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. Could somebody show how it's done?

I'm making masks with recycled materials. I usually use whatever is in the trash and recycling, kids art supplies, feathers, you know, whatever is freely available and that ends up being just amazing.

I was in a phase once of using cardboard to make layers. If you paint some elements of nature onto the board and then cut them out you can then collage with them and create depth. I wish I had a photo of something I made that way, but it was a long time ago.

Masks are Nice. Is there any way to make my drawings multi dimensional if I'm doing some on cardboard? I've tried for a few years with just markers and color pencils, but look too flat. I just wanna make some that will pop out more every day to blow my eyes out.

Hi Blake,
I draw and paint on cardboard a lot. You can check out some of my ‘cardboard’ pieces here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/GemmaBoydMixedMedia?ref=seller-platform-mcnav

This reminded me of what you mentioned about painting first and then do over in color pencil:

Cool! How about a black and white drawing. Will it work as long as I put white paint over first, then draw over it?

Back again! I'm doing a couple of cardboard pieces for one of my art shows next month and looking to create a toy box and draw stuff on there to appeal to kids. Any way how I do that?

For your last request for ideas about a toy box, I thought I'd show you my cardboard "toy box"  I made for Halloween to pass out little toys I got at the thrift store. They had to walk a tight rope (a rope on the ground), climb through a ring of fire (old hula hoop), then reach their hand into the lion's mouth (cardboard box). The kids are still having fun playing with it.

It's not too sustainable though since I used acrylic paint. 😬
