I still have not figured out how this mill works. Is it a circular blade? Does it cut both horizontal and vertical?

I am trying to make a plan to convert my dads buzz saw mill and I like some of the track features pf this mill.

Hans; search for "Alaskan Sawmill" online to find the simplest way of making lumber out of logs. An Alaskan Sawmill is a system that takes any chain saw (but preferably one with a long blade) and holds it on a consistent plane as it makes a pass over a log on the ground.
 
I got this tall by not having enough crisco in my diet as a kid. This ad looks like it had plenty of shortening:
