For the first time, in the 4yrs we've had a kid born on our farm, it's a GIRL!!
Irie Dùil (eye-REE Dhoo-il) was born at about 9:45pm, May 21. She's Marley's & Kola's 5th kid, and only their 2nd doeling. With both parents & her older sister (Calypso) coming to us, already named with very Caribbean names, we've chosen to honor that in some way, for each of their subsequent babies; Ziggy Moon, Stormy (Stormageddon Rayne), and now, Irie, which means 'happy' or 'no worries', in Jamaican, and Dùil, which means 'hope' from John's and my Scottish-Gaelic heritage. I'll try to weigh her, today, but I'm thinking no more than about 2lbs. She tiny, precious, alert, energetic, and very happy - she's perfect! And, she's the spitting image of her daddy, Kola!

And now, introducing Irie's half-sister, Minny-Minny Leannan, born today, at about 5pm - on what would have been John's (100%Scottish) mom's 99th birthday. Minny-Minny and Ellen(John's mom's name) both mean bright, light, brilliant - or star. Leannan is Scottish-Gaelic for Sweetheart. She is both!

(Don't mind the bit of floof on Nina's front leg, that I missed, when I sheared her, the other day, lol)

Totally adorable. Clearly I need to travel more, so I can offer to come and babysit that little treasure! (so long as her mom does the feeding part)

Marley has always been a great mom, (except with the one she rejected, who apparently had something wrong, inside), and while she's protective, she knows her babies are safe with John and me, so she's watchful, but lets us get close and snuggle with them. This is Nina's first, and she was unsocialized and extremely shy, when she came here, but has greatly improved and has gradually come to trust us. She did let me get in there and pick Minny up, but she wasn't happy about it, so I was super gentle (as always) with my quick health & sex check, and tried to be quick, so as not to stress either of them.

So far, Minny seems happy and active but mellow, compared to her half-sister Irie, who came into this world bouncing and running, lol. I'm hoping Minny catches up, or Irie will simply bowl her over, when we put them all together, in a week or so. That's going to be a closely watched event, because Marley can be a bit of a bully, with Nina, *at times*, though that's also greatly improved, in the last 6 months or so. I'm just not taking any chances with these babies, until they're big enough to either stand up for themselves or quick enough to get away, if the grownups get testy.

It would give a normal human mental abilities to rival mine. To think it is just a tiny ad:
