Now is the  time when stores have those giant metal cans of popcorn for sale. Never mind the popcorn, you can give that away. But these tins are great for storing stuff. I keep dried beans and rice and flour in mine. If you get tired of the Christmas motif you can paint the outside with non-toxic paint or cover it with cardboard.

Welcome to Permies!

I have a few of those tins kicking around for storage/organization. My grandfather loved getting them for Christmas for the goodies but didn't want to keep the tins. I call that a win/win.

I use them for storage too, and get them from trash or thrift stores.
They stack nicely

I admit I wish I saw more of the really large ones around. They'd be great for dipping flour out of when baking. My mom had some glass jars which had quite a wide mouth and my sister still uses her old ones. My hands are quite small, so some of those large screw lids on jars are a bit of a challenge for daily use, but I watch for them and snag them for long term storage.

My region is known for its out of control rat/mouse population, so I like anything that could possibly be considered food, to be in glass or metal with a secure lid!

All mine came as Christmas gifts.  I have never bought any of them.

Another good thing about them is that they are stackable.

Sugar, flour, rice, etc. I leave in the original packaging.

cans are perfect for storing seeds. I only wish they made the big ones a bit stronger in the tin and seams

Hi ya’ll, these are excellent posts for rescuing empty popcorn cans.

I give a heads up each December to friends I know who get these cans of popcorn as gifts from friends/family/corporate and ask them to save me the tins. They make great storage for canning rings so the rings don’t rust from humidity.

Also, I keep seed packets in these for the same reason.
