I could really use some advice please. Im having a newbie problem trying to remove quotation marks from my post. I hope this is the correct way to ask for help in this matter.  I believe I somehow posted incorrectly by adding my remarks so they appeared in the white box below the quote instead of a separate section below the white box. I am wondering if this is the reason why I am unable to edit out the quotation marks,  How would I go about fixing this?

You probably just need to find the [/quote] tag at the end of your post and move it so that it’s at the end of the quoted text instead.

Hi Amy, I had a look at your post and it looks like when you used Cy's post and deleted part of it, you also edited the end [/quote] out.
Just insert that between Cy's part and the part you added and you should be fine.
I think it's nice that we can add this bb formatting to our posts - for quotes and text colours etc. but it is a little difficult to get the hang of. If you want to have a little practice in this thread, we can help. Make sure the [bb] code is not disabled -  it is in this post (and probably Christopher's) and sometimes that copies down a thread.

To make that very last post, correct, edit it and below the place where you would type in the message, there is a checkbox called “disable BB Code” it should be currently checked. And you should uncheck it and then/submit.

And just to make it perfectly clear for future reference, you won’t usually need to worry about that checkbox. It is almost always unchecked.

Please bear with me here. I went back to the post that was done incorrectly but It only allows me to copy, select all, etc  Is there any way to edit it?

Do you see a button on the right with three dots? That should expand and you have an edit button (and possibly some others) visible?

What device are you using?

OK Amy, I think you may have found a glitch! Well done and sorry about that.

As a work around, can you try switching to desktop view? I know it'll be a bit congested, but you should now see the three dots and be able to get through to the edit button on your post.

Amy, the three dots should be on a brown button just right of the "quote" button. I just made a limited change to your post over there and I don't really expect it to fix the issue, but please check to make sure.

I checked and unchecked desktop view, cannot seem to find brown button with dots. I'm sorry, I'm a bit slow going back and forth.

Could it be that the edit button time has run out on Amy's post as it does sometimes when other replies have been posted following that one?

Good thought Judith, but we don't think so - in this case I 'turned on the edit button' for Amy, but it appears to be missing. It may be a mobile device thing. I'm going to try something else (with my new steward superpowers).....

Amy,
I've altered something. I don't know if it will help you or if we will need to call in our computing wizards who do all the magic in the background for us.
Can you have a quick look again and see if anything has changed? You may need to log off and back in again, I'm not sure....Try on a few different posts - this thread will do.

I'm so sorry for the delay, I fell asleep. I'm currently visiting friends in PA. Checked again and could not find the button. If I was home I'd try on our desktop. I was on my home network when I posted using this cell phone, now I'm using my friends network and a different ISP. It's the only difference I can think of. This may not be noteworthy because I did not try to edit prior to this. Not sure if any of that helps.

Just checking.
You are using mobile view?

Is it still a problem in desktop view?

My choice is desktop site, I'm guessing that's desktop view. It's the same problem, I'm still unable to edit.

Hmm,

We're going to have to get some help on this then Amy. Thank you for your patience in helping us with this. If you have a chance to log in on a PC, see whether you can find the edit button and let us know.

It'll take a few days to work things out at this end: we're all volunteers and one of our key players is on holiday.

Just wanted to do a screenshot of what desktop looks like again and suddenly edit appeared! I'm going to try to fix the initial problem, not sure why this has suddenly righted itself but I am now getting many more options available. I'm staying in desktop mode and will try to fix my earlier post. Do you think this may have something to do with a server refresh?  Maybe an update was stalled? Curious, but happy there's a path forward. Thank you!
