Didn't there used to be a forum called 'toxinectomy' or am I misremembering?

I wanted to ask about alternatives for petroleum jelly and didn't think iit needed to be in the cider press under 'toxic gick' but maybe so?

Thanks

I think if it's phrased as solution focused,  we give it a try on the main forums.

The trick is how to phrase it so it doesn't mention moderation needs which triggers people to talk about problems.

If my memory serves me right, we turned turned Toxinectomy into probably "personal care" or home care, creating the Purity catagory. We wanted to make the whole thing more positive and focused on solutions. People kept posting toxic gick in there when it was named Toxinectomy. We haven't had nearly as much trouble since we renamed things. We moved the posts about toxic gick to toxic gick in the Cider Press.

If you check your bumper stickers, you can see the old toxinectomy symbol now links to Purity .

So, if your post is focused on finding better solutions, post it in one of the Purity forums. If it's going to talk about how yucky petroleum jelly is, post it in Toxic Gick.

I hope that helps!

I remember now.

What Nicole said.  That was quite the challenge to transform all that.

I can give you an answer here as I use olive oil, coconut oil or any kind of oil.

I am not sure what your application for wanting to replace though the oils I mentioned work except on my All American Canner.

I especially like olive oil for lips and hands.  Would work on feet and elbows. too.

Thanks everyone!

Now I kind of remember bits of that switch over...at least the beginnings of the 'purity' forum?  Toxinectomy was just such a cool word once I got used to it....it stuck in my head for that sort of thinking about alternatives.

Anne, thanks, I'll start a thread later this afternoon

Thanks for that perfectly distilled summary -- valuable insight for all of us who post here.
