Hate to be the bearer of sad news, but the Twin Oaks Community in VA has suffered a devastating fire.  Please keep them in your thoughts as they make their way through the recovery process.  There is a donation link on their website if you would like to offer financial assistance.

Devastating is the right word. I cringed when I saw the words "Twin Oaks does not have insurance..."

I'm not pointing my fingers in anyone's face, just saying that their road to recovery will be that much rougher if people don't pitch in to help them.

I gave what I could. I would encourage others to do the same if they felt any sort of tug in their heart. It is hard to find someone to donate a million dollars. It's easier to find a million people to give a dollar. Over-generalization, sure. But you get my drift.

I wish them the best as they build towards the future.

That is a tough situation, I'm glad that everyone made it out safely.

Brush/Forest fires are no joke. Risk management is a difficult thing ESPECIALLY when faced with large scale natural disaster.

I hope there can be some learnings out of this tragedy to prevent or at least have a plan in the face of another pending disaster.

Sad, this might be of interest:

As a result of losing thousands of dollars of inventory in the fire, Twin Oaks Hammocks is set to close once it liquidates the inventory that happened to be stored somewhere else.

The warehouse also contained the seed racks for Southern Exposure Seed Exchange's wholesale business, as well as the walk-in cooler that stored most of Twin Oaks Community Foods' tofu. Both of those businesses will continue to operate.

The only taste of success some people get is to take a bite out of you. Or this tiny ad:
